Cactus Cat

Found in: Southwest U.S.

The Cactus Cat is described as a "fearsome critter", a creature similar to a bobcat covered in hair-like thorns, with longer spines extending from its legs and an armored, branching tail.

It was said to use its spines to slash open cacti at night, allowing juice to run from the plants. On later nights, it would return to drink the fermented juice; and thus intoxicated, would shriek throughout the night.

Artist notes: Pencil on paper. I particularly love this sketch because I tried to imagine what an insanely drunk feral cat would look like.
